This is where Atmospheric G2 (AG2) marks their value proposition. The company houses a team of industrybest experts committed to accelerating innovations in global weather forecasting for the energy trading and risk management space.
“Electric power and gas traders need to have a clear and better understanding of weather information to succeed in the volatile trading market. Our mission is to help customers make confident data-driven decisions and assess the weather’s impact on their trading positions,” says Todd Navarra, the CEO of AG2.
AG2 recently acquired the global weather platform WSI Trader from IBM to further strengthen their value proposition. The company is now leveraging WSI’s decades of expertise— in meteorology, data analytics, software development, and understanding of the energy commodity markets—with the capabilities of a soon-to-be-released and re-positioned platform, AG2 Trader, to help traders gain a competitive edge.
The SaaS-based weather decision support platform, AG2 Trader (formerly WSI Trader), delivers industry-leading forecast skills and first-to-market information, helping the energy commodity markets by providing global, skillful forecasts tailored for the energy industry along with expert commentary. The easy-to-use platform provides a comprehensive global view of the latest weather forecast out to five months in the future through a single pane of glass.
The platform’s customizable dashboard includes forecast alerts and product notifications, the latest weather data tailored for both gas and electricity traders for speed of interpretation in both tabular and graphical formats, along with a robust set of historical weather data back to 1960.
In order to complement AG2 Trader, AG2 also offers weather data APIs in partnership with IBM’s The Weather Company (TWC). This taps into the breadth and depth of weather data to provide current and forecasted conditions, seasonal and sub-seasonal forecasts, renewable forecasts and historical weather data for analysis. By applying advanced analytics to the combination of business and hyperlocal weather data, traders can build the foundation for informed enterprise decision-making.
“We have both third-party companies and our own clients benchmarking us for having the most skillful weather forecasts in the industry,” states Robert Boucher, the VP of Product at AG2. The timeliness and reliability of the weather information have made corporate giants like Bloomberg choose AG2 as their weather provider to supply weather information within the Bloomberg Terminal.

“While leveraging modern data science technology, including AI and ML, is very crucial, it amounts to little without the inputs from the people involved. We have built a culture that enables us to retain the people who form the core of our solution offering,” states Navarra.
