Ecostrat Inc. is proud to announce it has been named “Company of the Year” for 2024 by Canadian Biomass Magazine, in recognition of its leadership and innovation in the Canadian bioeconomy.
For over 25 years, Ecostrat has propelled the global bioenergy transition by delivering cutting-edge due diligence on biomass supply chain risk, pioneering tools that de-risk and accelerate project development and investment, and delivering over 5 million tonnes of biomass feedstock to the bioenergy, renewable fuel, biogas, and bio-material markets.
Ecostrat led the international effort to develop industry Standards for Biomass Supply Chain Risk (BSCR), enabling capital to flow more easily, more quickly, and less expensively to biomass-based projects. The BSCR Standards provided capital markets with a means to evaluate and compare feedstock risk for bio-based projects. They became a CSA National Standard (CSA W209:21) in 2021 and are slated to become a US/Canada bi-national standard in 2024/25.
The BDO Zone Initiative, led by Ecostrat, has become a recognized driver of biobased project development throughout North America. BDO Zone ratings, standards-based assessments of regional bio-manufacturing readiness, have now been issued in over 48 regions across North America, with more than 100 expected by the end of 2024. BDO Zones have been instrumental in new bio-project announcements, and are currently being used to support multi-billion-dollar capital raises for the Velocys PLC and USA BioEnergy Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) projects. They were recently recognized in the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) “Plan to Enable the Bioeconomy in America: Building a Resilient Biomass Supply” as a pivotal tool to expedite the development of the bioeconomy.
“We are proud to be recognized as bioeconomy leaders that are pushing the envelope to invent new tools, unique approaches, financial instruments, and technologies that help derisk and scale up development of the global bioeconomy”, said Jordan Solomon, CEO of Ecostrat and Chairman of The BDO Zone Initiative. “We are committed to 10Xing the rate of bioeconomy development in Canada and around the world. This award validates the hard work of our brilliant team of changemakers and innovators who come together to make an impact on one of the great challenges of our time. We will use the recognition this award provides to more effectively help project developers, investors, governments, and communities harness biomass resources as engines for decarbonization and job creation.”
