The unwanted use of conventional energy sources has posed a monstrous menace. As a continuation, every country has started to shift its focus to renewable sources. For example, the U.K. government announced the 'Road to Zero' project to ensure an emission-free transport system by 2040. Not only the U.K. but also the U.S. has focused on renewable sources.
Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory(NREL) Department of research marked that the U.S. will be able to produce most of the electricity from renewable sources by 2050. The popularity of solar-powered cars and wind turbines points toward the world's changing demands. Statista has predicted that the estimate of the global solar market will be $422 billion by 2022
Additionally, the emerging economies' improved economies have shown swift growth in adopting renewable sources. Bloomberg New Energy Finance offered a report based on 55 countries of Africa, Latin America, Asia, and the Caribbean and proved their swift adoption of renewable sources.

Germany exhibited differential growth in leveraging renewable sources to hit the energy requirement. As per Reuters, more than 40 % of Germany's total energy consumption will be clean energy. However, the massive use of fossil fuels may be a hurdle to reaching the government's goal of getting 65 % of total energy from renewable sources by 2030.
Power-to-X or ptX plants can show a pivotal role in reaching this goal, producing a huge amount of electricity and transforming electricity into heat, gas, chemical products, or fuels. The German government has given a fund to Wuppertal Institut (Virtual Institue) to research the flexibilization of energy. Site analyses for this project have also been made.
The direct application of electricity is made for energy-intensive processes, and hydrogen is produced in carbon capture and utilization processes. Moreover, electrolysis, as a part of the experiment, scientists also searched for the biological process to generate methane from CO2 using bacteria. ptX can change the energy landscape of Germany, which still depends on fossil fuels.
