The California Building Standard Commission (CBSC) has accepted a new solar power law. This law states that every new house will have to install solar panels from 2020.
FREMONT, CA: Reckless usage of conventional sources of energy has frightened the world. However, solar power has become a reliable weapon to handle the growing level of pollution, and solar panels are competent in cutting down the expenditure on electricity. Under Allied Market Research, the solar energy industry will attain $422 billion by 2022.
The California Building Standard Commission (CBSC) has accepted a new solar power law. This law states that every new house will have to install solar panels from 2020. Eight members of CBSC voted to incorporate this new regulation into the state's building code. This announcement is unusual and will make California the first state to have such a rule.
This regulation will allow the houses of California to use up 53% less energy than past. Under the U.S. Energy Information Administration, a standard California household spends 6,500 kWh per year. According to the VOX report, in 15% of newly built houses, solar panels meet the necessity of electricity. But, California is aimed to draw 100% of electricity from renewable sources by 2045. This is a tough decision that will help the state reach its goal.
People are afraid of the great expense related to the installation of solar panels. The state officials approve that an investment of $10,000 for buildings and other new improvements is needed. However, they say that the cost will be balanced over time because people will get rid of the higher electricity bills. As per the building commission, a man will be able to save $19,000 in 30 years.
From 2020, the homebuyers in California will either have to pay for solar panels or enter a power purchase agreement with developers. People are frightened that this new mandate will be harmful to the buyers and the real estate developers and agents, but several industry groups have aided this rule.
When the May hearing of the energy commission, most members firmly voiced their support for solar panel implantation. California expects that this decision will help achieve carbon-neutral status. Still, the California Energy Commission has not failed to mention that it has reached only 32% of the goal.
