With a small yet dynamic team of professionals ODiGE offers specialized SCADA and Digital system consultancy services and innovative solutions to the global offshore energy industry. ODiGE’s model is to form partnerships with innovative companies ready to collaborate in the cloud to offer value adding ‘best of breed’ to the end customer via the EOS WindSim™ platform.
“We are not a technology company trying to come into the energy realm. We have been in the offshore renewable industry from near the beginning and have developed the EOS WindSim™ solution based on hands-on experience building on a fundamental knowledge of the varied use cases.”
The Norfolk-based company’s solutions harness machine learning (ML) models that give operators the ability to analyse data on the go and identify anomalies and catch issues before they manifest into costly failures and downtime. For instance, the company’s one-of-a-kind revolutionary product, EOS WindSim™, which is in its MVP stage, galvanizes information collated during the construction phase, real-time data from the multiple wind farm systems and anomalies found by the ML, reinforced by data and services from third party systems into one intuitive visualization. This approach of centralizing data, leveraging ML and collaborating in the cloud by ODiGE will help clients reduce operational expenditure tremendously and improve efficiency. Ketteringham explains that ODiGE works with the client in the early stage to develop a foundation solution centralizing the data and then builds on that foundation with a continuous programme of value adding functionality, either from ODiGE, the client or a third-party service.
He also draws attention to the fact that renewable energy generating assets will come under increased levels of regulations regarding cyber security. To this end, ODiGE helps companies incorporate Fintech standard cyber security monitoring and logging so that they can rest assured their critical infrastructure is secure from increasing targeted cyber-attacks and they are prepared for the coming regulation. “We want to bring the same standard of technology and services successfully implemented to facilitate the Open Banking into the energy space; not only in regulations but in as many aspects of the energy business as we can,” he states.
Offshore Digital Engineering, with its current portfolio of clients in Europe, Taiwan and the US, plans to enhance its products and services and grow further. Having multiple innovative products in the pipeline already, the company is looking for potential partnerships and investments to take those products forward into the market. To bring in more innovative products and concepts, Offshore Digital is currently working with the University of East Anglia (UEA) to research the possibility of analyzing high-resolution HV data to identify early prediction of fault in subsea cables. “Many other innovative concepts such as smart off take balancing solution using AI, offshore transfer traffic lights and the use of Low Power Wide Area Networks offshore are in various stages of development,” concludes Ketteringham.
