Many solar product owners are unaware that they can receive more out of their solar system; a lesser carbon footprint, increased convenience in operating their household, and greater savings on bills. To encourage the use of solar ecosystems, the Australian government offers a solar rebate that reduces solar installation costs to nearly a third. “We use PV energy diversion technology to store energy in water rather than lithium, using a hot water immersion control device to heat the water,” states David Veal, managing director of Solarpro.

The excess energy produced by a solar system, normally sent to the grid, is diverted to an electric water tank that heats the water and stores it as heat energy. Solarpro either uses an existing standard electric hot water tank or installs a new one. It then installs a SolarEdge energy diverter to harvest the spare PV energy and turns it into heat energy, which is stored in the form of hot water. This electric hot water tank acts like a big battery, and every time there is spare electricity from the solar system, instead of storing it in the battery, the energy is sent to the Hot Water tank and stored in the form of heat energy. The stored energy may then be used to power other electrical devices like house air conditioners, underfloor heating, heated towel rails, smart EV charging, or pool heat pumps.

Solarpro installs solar ecosystems and offers daily monitoring and remote technical assistance. For example, if there is an issue in the solar ecosystem, the monitoring service sends a notification to Solarpro’s servers since the ecosystem is connected to a network. It then contacts the owners to inform them of the issue and sends its solar specialists to solve it. This service has the potential to save clients hundreds of dollars in wasted energy. If a system is not monitored, it is usual for people to discover there is a problem when they receive their next power bill.

Solarpro educates clients on how to make the best use of their solar systems. Its sales team, known as solar specialists, keeps clients up-to-date on the latest technology.

Solarpro, in collaboration with SolarEdge, offers an integrated suite of SolarEdge products. Their solar panel range, ‘Smart Modules,’ has SolarEdge optimizers integrated into the solar panels. They can improve installation speed by removing the need to install a separate optimizer on each panel.

Solarpro has installed about 5000 solar systems to date. For example, it installed SolarEdge systems in a swim school eleven years ago, starting with hot water heating systems and adding more solar products over the years. Solarpro’s customized solutions helped reduce the school’s bills and get it to zero cost.
