Being a future distributor and provider of hydrogen, VNG Handel & Vertrieb is a founding member of the non-profit organization H2Global involving various industry sectors. The company perceives itself as a future distributor and provider of hydrogen. In the project Energy Park Bad Lauchstädt, VNG Handel & Vertrieb is implementing the production, transport, storage, and economical use of green hydrogen on an industrial scale together with its partners.
A large electrolysis plant with an initial capacity of 30 MW will generate green hydrogen using renewable electricity from a nearby wind farm. The green hydrogen will then be fed into the hydrogen network of the local chemical industry via a converted gas pipeline and will be used in the future, for example, in urban mobility solutions. In a later project phase, the green hydrogen will be stored in a specially equipped salt cavern. By covering all aspects of the intelligent and economically optimal integration of the energy source green hydrogen in the Bad Lauchstädt energy park, VNG Handel & Vertrieb is aiming at a large-scale demonstration of sector coupling.
