Chemstream’s top product–StimSTREAM FR 9800 friction reducer technology– has been driving significant hydraulic fracturing chemical savings for oil and gas producers across the Marcellus and Utica shale play. The company also offers paraffin inhibitors and surfactants for production applications. For drilling purposes, Chemstream provides foaming and defoaming agents, as well as coagulators and other chemistries aimed at separating water from solids.

To equip customers with the right solutions, Chemstream takes a hands-on approach, sending expert field engineers to the site to diagnose the problems clients face. Following the inspection, the engineers collect samples from sites and bring them back to the Chemstream lab for testing and analysis. Once the true source of the problem has been identified, the Chemstream team determines which of their products can provide the most cost-effective solution. The products are then sent out to the location accompanied by the same field engineers who oversee and manage the application.

After a case-specific waiting period, new samples are taken and analyzed to ensure the effectiveness of the solution. Technical Director Brandon LaBrozzi says, “It’s a complete analytical-based, science-based procedure with checks and balances to ensure that we’re actually solving the problem.”

The effectiveness of Chemstream’s chemistries in improving well production has been demonstrated in many instances. One client was experiencing poor outcomes despite investing heavily in chemical solutions. Chemstream analyzed every part of their operation, from the quality of the water source to the nature of the well and the surrounding geology. To align the results with their significant investment, Chemstream designed a friction reducer/scale inhibitor and biocides, along with the equipment to pump the chemistry in a more effective way. After implementing the solution, the client was able to expand their operation to three wells, all of which utilize Chemstream’s staff, equipment, and chemistry to drive optimal results.

Chemstream’s ability to deliver top-tier services is due in part to the control they have over their supply chain. Not only do they have 1.5 million gallons of on-site storage, but Chemstream is also able to overcome materials shortages by forecasting which components are likely to be in short supply.
