Paresa’s products address various storage and energy infrastructure requirements. It includes turnkey storage and terminal solutions for crude oil, hydrocarbons and chemicals built to the robust API 650 standard and specialized double-walled and spherical tanks for liquified gases.
Paresa began its journey in maintenance and refurbishment, establishing a solid foundation that now informs its innovative designs for new storage plants. Its deep-rooted expertise in tank maintenance, inspection and design enables it to optimize every detail of new storage solutions, ensuring long-term operability and tailored precision for each client’s needs.
As we continue to expand our capabilities in new construction, our deep-rooted experience in maintenance remains a critical factor in ensuring the longevity and efficiency of every system we design
“As we continue to expand our capabilities in new construction, our deep-rooted experience in maintenance remains a critical factor in ensuring the longevity and efficiency of every system we design,” says Raffaele Cedioli, general manager.
A Trusted Partner for Global Energy Future
Paresa offers a full suite of energy storage and infrastructure solutions. For liquified gases such as ammonia, LPG, LNG, ethane and ethylene, it provides specialized double-walled tanks that maintain stability through low-temperature storage. Spherical tanks are also available for high-pressure storage of similar gases, relying on pressure rather than temperature for storing the products in the liquid state.
In the hydropower sector, its expertise includes penstocks— large, durable piping designed to function similarly to pressure vessels in supporting efficient water flow.
As Paresa expands its focus on new storage installations, it is also broadening its impact with innovative projects that support the industry’s sustainable future. It is making strides in hydrogen storage technology, responding to the rising demand for clean energy alternatives with spherical tanks. In addition, its development of flare gas recovery systems aligns with the World Bank’s 2030 goal to eliminate routine flaring, particularly in developing countries, further solidifying its role in driving sustainability.
Specializing in large-scale storage tank construction, Paresa builds facilities ranging from 10,000 to over 100,000 cubic meters, managing nearly every aspect of these installations. Its storage tanks adhere to rigorous standards, ensuring dependable safety and performance for atmospheric and standard tank applications.
Leading the Charge in Maintenance and Refurbishment
Paresa has established itself as a leader in maintenance and refurbishment within the energy sector, with a strong track record in Italy, reflecting the focus on maintaining existing infrastructure in mature markets. Long-term contracts, including a significant agreement with ENI for all of their refineries and facilities, now account for approximately 80 percent of Paresa’s operations in Italy. Globally, the balance shifts, with a larger portion of business coming from new installations, driven by demand in emerging markets.
As Western countries shift toward maintaining and refurbishing their aging infrastructure, Paresa is expanding its maintenance services in Northern Europe, where there is growing demand for such expertise. It aims to capitalize on the significant growth opportunities in regions like Rotterdam, Antwerp and Amsterdam, where the concentration of large storage capacities creates new prospects for both maintenance and new facility services.
In collaboration with SNAM, an Italian multinational oil and gas company, Paresa completed substantial maintenance work on double-walled LNG tanks at SNAM’s Panigaglia terminal.
Originally constructed in the early 1970s, the tanks required comprehensive upgrades to modernize their instrumentation and insulation systems. The upgrades were critical to ensure the tanks could continue to maintain the -165 degrees Celsius temperature necessary for storing liquefied natural gas. Paresa’s work extended the operational lifespan of these aging tanks while ensuring they met contemporary safety and efficiency standards. This success is part of a broader portfolio of projects, including similar work at Nigerian refineries.
While ensuring strict adherence to execution timelines and offering competitive pricing, Paresa’s flexibility and ability to engage with a diverse range of clients position it as a valuable partner in the industry.
It offers no off-the-shelf products. Everything is custom-designed to meet the specific requirements of the client. Whether designing a single storage tank, vessel, penstock, or an entire plant on a turnkey basis, Paresa tailors each solution to the needs of the project, ensuring precision and excellence in every delivery. From the initial detailed design and engineering phase to fabrication and transportation, it manages every aspect of the process.
On-site construction, thorough testing and commissioning are also handled with precision, ensuring the highest quality and reliability. Paresa takes pride in its collaborative approach, working closely with clients to develop solutions that consider local infrastructure, workforce capabilities and financial realities, especially in developing regions.
Operating on a project-based model, Paresa maintains a dedicated workshop for prefabricating materials essential for on-site construction. It focuses on producing core steel components made from high-quality steel or stainless steel, ensuring they meet rigorous standards. For specialized tasks, such as civil works, electrical, instrumentation and control activities, it collaborates with expert subcontractors, ensuring top-tier execution across all aspects of the project.
Building Strategic Fuel Reserves
Three distinct types of clients are served, each benefiting from specialized expertise. The first group includes institutional clients like TZ and their global counterparts, who rely on Paresa for customized storage solutions that align perfectly with their requirements. It teams up with engineering firms that design comprehensive plants, providing them with essential services focused on storage components.
It also offers services to private investors, both in developing regions and Italy. Currently, it is constructing two massive 50,000 cubic meter storage tanks in Italy as part of a government initiative to enhance energy security through strategic fuel reserves. Simultaneously, the company is collaborating with private investors to establish LPG distribution depots in Africa, starting with two impressive 8,000 cubic meter storage spheres in Nigeria. This successful partnership has since expanded to five tanks, significantly contributing to the growth of the region's energy sector.
Driving innovation in the storage solutions industry, Paresa excels in meeting diverse client needs while prioritizing safety and sustainability, solidifying its reputation as a trusted partner in the evolving global energy landscape.
